Search Index Manager privacy policy
Last updated 14 October 2026
Search Index Manager (formerly IndexPulse) is a Shopify app made by Amethyst Apps (Kevin Hunter, Scotland, UK). This policy explains what information the app uses when you install it on your Shopify store, why, who else handles it, and how long we keep it.
What the app collects
- Your store's details, shared by Shopify when you install: store name and web address, the store owner's name and email address, and your Shopify plan. We use these to run the app, to email you about it, and to work out your app plan.
- Your products: title, description, handle, type, vendor, tags and whether each product is published. The app needs these to check each product page with Google and to write product FAQs. It saves FAQs and the date a page was last sent as product metafields in your store.
- Your Google connection: when you connect Google, we store an access token so the app can read your Search Console data for your store and send your product pages to Google's Indexing API. Tokens are encrypted and are never shown in the app or your browser.
- Results and activity: each product's Google index status, the queue of pages waiting to be sent, and a log of what was sent and when.
The app does not access your customers, orders or payment details.
How we use it
Only to provide Search Index Manager: to show you your products' Google status, to send pages to search engines, to write FAQs you ask for, and to email you about the app (a welcome email, a getting-started email, a check-in, and a service message if your Google connection stops working). You can unsubscribe from the tips at any time from any email. We never sell your information or use it for advertising.
Who else handles it
We use a small number of services to run the app. They only process information on our behalf.
- Shopify: your store, products and billing.
- Gadget: app hosting and database.
- Google: Search Console (reading your product pages' status) and the Indexing API (sending pages), using the Google account you connect.
- IndexNow (Bing, Yandex and others): only if you set it up, the public web addresses of pages being sent.
- OpenAI: when FAQs are written, the product's title, description, type, brand and tags, and your store name. Nothing else.
- Resend: sending our emails. Loops: keeping our list of app users and whether they've unsubscribed.
- Sentry: error reports, so we can fix problems. These may include your store's ID or web address.
- Amethyst Partners (our own referral programme): your store's web address when you install, and the amount of each paid app charge, so partners who referred a store can be paid commission.
How long we keep it
While the app is installed we keep your products' status, queue and activity. Activity older than 12 months is deleted automatically. If you disconnect Google, the Google tokens are deleted straight away. When you uninstall, the Google connection and queue are deleted straight away, and Shopify asks us to delete everything else 48 hours later, which we do. The FAQs saved in your product metafields stay in your store until you remove them.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you at any time by emailing [email protected]. If you're in the UK or EU, you also have the right to complain to your data protection authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office, ico.org.uk).
